fire… fire… house on fire!

What would be your very first reaction if somebody told you your house is on fire?

After reading so many essays on ‘Fire’ in all three languages and hearing news and watching Burning Flame (烈火雄心) and imagining what I would save if it really happens, I didn't really react as I thought I'd be. In fact, when BeeGuat broke the news during Math class, I was still wondering, "Really? On fire? How??"

And we actually sat there for quite some time wondering if we should ask permission from the lecturer to go home (REAL slow reaction)! And BeeGuat actually smiled (!!!) quite bashfully when she told Mr. Shahul, "Sir, our house is on fire. Can we go home?" We’re still cool cucumbers on the journey back home.. I guess it’s because we just couldn’t picture the situation. We’re praying in the car and Louis tried to speed home despite the jam.

The roof of our house was puffing away when we reached home.. The already narrow lane in front of our house was blocked by the fire engine.

So we parked our car in front of a house and ran all the way through the crowd. It was just so u-n-r-e-a-l! The usual spectators had become the main characters suddenly!01282010396

A Malay auntie stopped me, “Rumah kamukah?”

“Rumah sebelah!”

“Lari la cepat! Tunggu ape lagi?”

“…???” I thought you stopped me??

The firemen didn't allow us in. But the first thing that came to our mind was: our computers/laptops!

DSC01931So everyone started like “Encik, boleh tolong ambil ini/itu… dalam bilik/laci?” And when it’s my turn, I looked at the abang hopefully, “Tolong ambil CPU boleh tak?” He smiled, “Sorry ah.. banyak cable la itu.. tak boleh..” I could hear my heart smashed into smithereens…

What could you do when your house is on fire and you couldn’t do a single thing to stop it?

Yes you PRAY! And that’s what we did.. Praying in tongues at the top of our voice despite how others might look at us! We just went on and on.. I must say that the Youth’s Unsilent Night rain testimony gave me the strength and faith to see the miracle. I didn’t know why the incident just raced across my mind.. Maybe God was reminding me of His greatness!

And He did show how awesome He was! Suddenly there came the wind which blew in the opposite direction! And unfortunately it brought the flame to the house 2 doors away from us.0128201039701282010403If you could notice the difference.. It was not that bad at first.. but after that one of the rooms upstairs was gone! Honestly I felt bad for that Chinese family (somemore CNY is around the corner)! But I couldn’t help giving thanks to God! It could have been our house a.k.a. Priya’s room! Praise the Lord!

Some VIPs whom we believed were politicians came to show their concern..

01282010401But I must say that the VIPs of the day were definitely the firemen! I think some of us literally fell in love with them when they macho-ly rescued our laptops and other important belongings.. By the way, they got my CPU out for me too!

Keeping the equipment when the operation was over. I overheard the ‘captain’ reporting, “Kebakaran telah dipadamkan dengan sepenuhnya”. Hahah.. so formal.. I thought this was only in TV..

01282010404And the interesting part was they had to masuk barisan before leaving.. We wanted to take pictures with them but we dared not.. :P

And how badly was our house affected?

The hole in the ceiling at the staircase. Can watch stars at night and drink rainwater if it rains.

DSC01935As for the house.. it was just plain dirty and flooded…

Take a look at my room! Half of my bed was soaked too.. Wonder whether I should get a new one.. Hmmm..

DSC01934

And this is how it looks like now.. Dry but dirty! Gotta get new ‘chit-chiat’ a.k.a. floor mat and give the house a new look soon..!

Right now the house is under repair.. and we’re so blessed to have our cell group leaders to turn to in times of trouble..! Thanks ZuZhangs! Shall be moving back soon… And do some spring cleaning!

Conclusion? Prayers do work! God is real! I prayed for a happening year and this happened! Haha.. although on the surface it might not seem like good news, but more importantly I had the chance to experience His miracles again, be thankful, and see many great things happening after that! God’s timing is always right! And in every trouble His glory shows!

I’m loving my life! It’s so adventurous that i think I could write an autobiography hahahahaha…
