eccentric chiney boss

I could type 华语字in my computer finally!

Attempted to type this post in chinese but it was way too hard. I guess it just didnt sound like me. Oh man, but I think in Chinese all the time! So what should I do? Chinese and English both 半桶水!

Anyway, there’s this new chinese coffee shop at my place, which is just opposite the usual chiney that we always go to and have gotten quite sick of it. When this new one (called 旺众) was still renovating, we were so excited coz we thought ‘Finally there’s another option for dinner!’ sort of thing. And it’s always good to have a little competition among shops coz customers will always benefit out of it, since all this while the chiney shop has been dominating the business.

So we went this evening, glad to find that it’s still open. And the boss, I presume, came out and invited us to go in and have a seat. We were discussing what to eat since most of us’re still herbivore for the time being and only a few stalls were open there. The boss was still pestering for us to go in… So in the end Jong, Caryn & BeeGuat went in and sat down while Priya, B and I decided that we should tapao-ed the economy rice at the old chiney shop.

And this boss, anxious that we’re leaving it seemed, kept telling us that the dishes over there were finished. We sort of ignored him and went anyway. And he kept asking (I think if he could he would have chased after us), ‘Are you going over there? You are really going over there…?’

Arrrgghhh……

Then we got intimidated and decided we should just ate at the old chiney shop. Jong then called and asked us not to go back there too. Coz the boss kept asking them why we left!

After dinner we went over and found that only BeeGuat was eating; while Jong & Caryn’re still waiting! The boss came again and paced around like a supervisor making sure his customers eat! Then he saw us and asked if we had our dinner. We nodded and he showed a so-I-lose-so-what face and asked sarcastically if we got our meals for free… The truth was that we got our dinner a lil’ cheaper today! Then he mumbled to himself, “Yea, 3 (ate) here and 3 (ate) there, fair enough…”

I was like ????????????????????????????????????

Seriously, do you have to be THAT desperate? It’s just the second day of business and you’re scaring your customers away! You’re like a lion waiting to pounce on anyone who refuses to eat at your place!

I thought we have found another makan place but if that’s going to be the boss’s attitude, I ain’t sure if I dare to step into or even pass by his shop again. Guess we’ll have to stick to old chiney…! ==
