Farewell, TP... & SKBUD!

TP is really, seriously, officially, finally over! TT <-- *crying tears of joy*

My timetable was officially crumpled and went into the rubbish bag!

Surprisingly, the last few days were the busiest and most stressful of all.. it's not the portfolio-stress, though we really had to burn midnight oil before the submission date to finish up the pettiest yet couldn't be overlooked dreadful stuff, i.e. table of content, cover page, separators, blah blah...

And I'm so glad everything's over :) ... (for now ==''')

Like I said, it wasn't really the portfolio that stressed us out. It's more like the gift stress kinda thing. What to give the teachers? What to give the kids? What to give those who scored higher than the others? Oh no... Not enough?! Should we buy more? Or should we just act innocent...? Trust me, these are more than enough to give you the headache!

I forgot how many times we visited Mr.DIY for those gifts! And there was one Monday when we had to purposely drove to Cheras to re-stock! Oh gosh, now I'm getting Mr.DIY-phobic! On the other hand I really thank God for its existence! The things were so cheap yet the quality was okay! Where else can you get 6 glitter gel pen for RM1.90? 6 rulers for RM1.50 (the ones that we usually use, not those choink ones mind you); or 10 cute bookmarks for 70 sen? But yea, seeing cheap stuff = buying a lot! In the end, we lost count of how much we had spent for TP!

For those who behaved well and tried their very best in class, I promised them gifts. And so it was time to keep my promises (one of the most crucial points in education).

For the rest, we just got them junk food. Tsk tsk... so unhealthy right... but they made them happy, so we couldn't care too much. Hahaha...

See? Teachers nowadays have a part-time called Santa Clauses okay!

We took the pains to ensure everything was right & equal!

And not just the kids, it was quite brain-cracking to think of what to give the teachers as well!

Guess what they were!

Cupcakes!

Beautiful on the outside but not so yummy on the inside... hahaha but not too bad still. I thank God that the teachers in my school were more humble and appreciative. I heard that Caryn's school teachers actually passed the cupcakes to others. The difference between an urban and a rural-like school!

Well, my school was not exactly rural. The name SK Bandar Utama Damansara said it all. But since most of the kids were immigrants' children, they were mostly from Kampung Kayu Ara, some lived in squatters' areas... conclusion: those of lower SES families. And you would just feel that lil' tinge of sympathy and sadness every time you see them, especially those who were completely de-motivated to study. They were not to blame, but we'd always think that if not through education, how else could they climb up the society ladder?

Sigh... why am I so philosophical and emotional all of a sudden?

Anyway, they're still a bunch of cutie pies. Especially my Year 3 darlings. ^^

Sarah Sofea and Nur Adelyn... two of my best girls in 3 Meranti.

In fact, Adelyn cried quite a bit on the last day when we're giving away prizes. I think dear & me were quite surprised at a few of them. I never expected them to be so emotional. It meant that we're quite adorable teachers aint it? Hahaha.. but frankly speaking, seeing their tears rolling down their chubby cheeks made me force down the sudden lump in my throat as well! But I told myself firmly that no, SS, there's no way you should make the kids cry even more buy crying yourself! And I guess it was also partly because I was too happy that TP was gonna be over soon despite the fact that I'd miss the kids! Hahahahah...

Took some pictures of the last co-curriculum activity: club and games. We had fun conducting the English club activity: Hangman! The kids were super competitive. Winning was everything it seemed. Hahaha...

Then it was time for netball! Which I wasn't good at. Ya ya, in fact, I ain't good in any kind of sports. TT

Ustazah Halifah, Puan Azlinah and Puan Sii Nor joined in the game!

The one thing that I love about SK schools is that: their teachers and pupils could be like friends when it doesn't concern anything serious or academic! In Chinese schools teachers are always the authority. And they don't usually joke with the pupils. And pupils revere the teachers to some extent they are scared of them. So it's a norm when a teacher asks questions and the whole class keeps silent, because that seems to be the way of showing respect. Seriously unhealthy! When I entered maktab we practised what had been our 'culture' all this while, and our behaviour was interpreted as arrogant and disrespectful! But I still believe it's not anyone's fault... it's more like a difference in culture. Hahahaha...

That's all I've got! Forgot to take pictures of the teachers... ==

And yeap, that's all. Farewell, SKBUD. It was a pleasure serving here. And to all the teachers and staff, thank you so much for your kind cooperation, consideration, tolerance, and your help whenever we're in need! You might see this and you might not, but I would like to especially thank Cikgu Norhafisyah for letting me use the Bilik Tayangan when my lecturer came to observe me, despite the fact that you had an observation by the PK HEM also that day! Thank you so much!!

Bye! And to the mural as well. Dear and me were always amused by it. Hahaha... look how big the fish in the sea was! And how the Penang bridge was cut off in the middle of nowhere... Hahaha... but a nice one! ^^

Bye, take care! Till we meet again!
